Of course we know how they fit ...we just follow the plans or talk about Plan C
Now I told Doug exactly where to fit the Mizzen boom...and he did exactly as I told him...too low?...so we moved onto plan B.
The sails arrived but can we make then fit? with a few Mods no problem....
Traditional Grid compass will have a light but we will only use it if it is an emergency..Bligh had no compass light so we will not either...hope there are some stars out??? and even some moon? sure!
At 8.5 months doug was looking forward to working on his own boat but never complained and was always smiling.
There were no plans? just sketches on the wall of the shed and ideas that Doug and I talked about but slowly we could see a dream everything falling into place.
It\'s very exciting when you get to put the name on!! I think Doug left this job for me on purpose!!
The 6 man Liferaft will take up a lot of cockpit space..great to have, but I tend to think we are already in our life boat!
Ballast hold downs are strapped into the floors and through bolted with a strap under the hull. It will not stop a capsize but adds a little stability and may help us rolling BB right way up again.
Some of the 125kg of lead ballast and the hand rails under the hull incase of capsize...Antifouling areas will be Fluro orange.

Looking for crew?? are you up for it???
During the voyage the oars will help to make a frame for a cover , Bligh did something similar with spare sails.
One permanent Bilge pump but we will have pleanty of Buckets, and don\'t believe what you see ....those seats are really
Bounty Boat..Fit for purpose and ready to go!
The sails fit and they work! ...lucky!
Motor sailing toward
First sail and no wind...time to start the motor!!
Pleanty of room for one...Bounty Boat was a lot smaller once in the water but she great for the challenge and will give us similar hardships that Bligh went through.
First thing I did was put 660kg of people onboard to check the waterline...all good, but we will load over 900KG of people & gear for the trip.

Child of Bounty...Replica of Blighs actual Boat. (9)

Bligh\'s boat is over twice the size of our boat. when Capt. Ron Ware, a Bligh decendant, used this boat in his 1983 voyage I was impressed and amazed they survived, and facinated by the challenge.
When Child of bounty was used for the 1983 re-enactment they had 8 or 9 crew on some legs but unlike Bligh, stopped in Fiji and Vanuatu and they used Charts and an Alminac to determine Longditude.
Big volume of boat in the water. Beautifully built boat. I shudder to think what it would cost to build today.
Normally crewed by 15 men you can see the anchor lifting winch( used to lift the Bounty anchors) in the middle of the boat and the rope running aft to the roller. A huge boat.
Big wide transome . the anchor roller and rope is used to lift the Bounty\'s main anchor to reposition or move it. Lots of bouyancy to carry that weight.
Everything about this boat is BIG and strong and heavy.
You can see the nail holes in the top plank where the canvas covers were attached to fold over the oars in an attempt to keep some of the water out of the boat as Bligh had done.
It is now on Display at the Sydney Heritage Fleet opposite the National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour.
